Have you ever started a podcast with someone you've never met in person? Or written an entire musical concept album with a complete stranger? Neither had Kristina Babich nor Justina Carubia. Their story began with a shared love of Alice Hoffman's *Practical Magic*. Long before Magnolia Street existed, they were simply two artists living hundreds of miles apart, connected by a mutual appreciation for witches, folklore, storytelling, and the magical world of the Owens family. Kristina, a Pennsylvania native now living in South Carolina, and Justina, a New Jersey musician and songwriter, first crossed paths online in 2016 through the witch community on YouTube. What began as an occasional internet friendship slowly blossomed into a creative partnership unlike either of them could have imagined. Then, in February of 2022, everything changed with a single text message. Kristina proposed what seemed like an impossible idea: creating an original concept album inspired by *Practical Magic*. Justina, who hadn't seriously written music in years, saw only four words—"Practical Magic Concept Music"—and immediately felt inspired to begin writing again. Within weeks, the pair had written songs from the perspectives of Sally, Gillian, the Owens Aunts, and many of the beloved characters who inhabit Alice Hoffman's magical world. Before long, more than twenty original songs had emerged, rekindling their creativity and deepening their connection to the story that first brought them together. Those songs became the foundation for something even greater. On Halloween of 2022, Magnolia Street was born. Today, Magnolia Street has grown into a thriving community of Practical Magic fans from around the world. Through in-depth discussions of Alice Hoffman's novels, scene-by-scene film analyses, folklore, herbalism, history, witchcraft, original music, and interviews with cast members and filmmakers, Kristina and Justina continue to celebrate the enduring magic of the Owens family while creating a place where fellow fans feel right at home. Their story is proof that creativity can build friendships across state lines, that one unexpected message can change the course of a life, and that the stories people love often have a way of bringing exactly the right people together.
